Job summary

DLA Piper seeks a Director of Engineering to lead design, development, delivery, modernization, and ongoing support of enterprise technology solutions for the firm’s legal and business operations.

The role provides strategic and operational leadership for software engineering, application development, and systems integration, ensuring secure, scalable, maintainable capabilities aligned with enterprise priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Master’s degree in Technology, business, or management‑related discipline (preferred).
• Relevant cloud platforms, architecture, or technology leadership certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for engineering and application development teams supporting firmwide legal and business capabilities across value streams.
• Set technical direction, architectural standards, and engineering practices to ensure secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
• Oversee engineering budgets, vendor relationships, and third‑party development partners as applicable to the service portfolio.
