Job summary

SendCutSend is seeking a hands-on technical leader to direct a critical software function as we scale. You will report to the VP of Product, Growth and Engineering and collaborate across product, operations and manufacturing to build software that supports customers, our team and growth.

This role balances shop-floor insight with production-code excellence. You will scale the engineering organization from ~16 engineers to multiple teams, recruit and implement processes for fast, quality delivery

Qualifications

• 15+ years in software engineering, with 10+ years in engineering leadership.
• Direct experience running an engineering organization through significant growth periods.
• Proven track record of hiring, developing and mentoring engineering managers.
• Domain expertise in manufacturing, logistics, or other physical-world businesses.
• Strong technical foundation with the ability to make correct decisions quickly with incomplete information.

Responsibilities

• Scale the engineering organization from ~16 engineers to many times that, including Reno HQ and remote locations.
• Develop the leadership + operating layer that makes larger scale possible: streamline code reviews, planning cadence, on-call process, performance reviews, leveling etc.
• Work closely with the CEO and other leadership teams to deliver the most important business needs via high quality software.
• Own feature delivery predictability with clear commitments, visible progress, and proactive escalation when a date is at risk.
• Partner with senior engineers on architecture and technical direction, ensuring the system can support many teams working in parallel.
• Make frequent trips to Reno NV HQ to work on the floor and ship parts in production.
