Snap Inc. is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead a Product Engineering team and steer a vision for scalable, privacy‑conscious software that delights Snapchatters and drives business impact.

You will shape the team's strategy, hire and develop leaders, and partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and Operations to deliver reliable experiences at scale in a fast, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
• 10+ years of software development experience; or advanced degree with 9+ years.
• 5+ years as an engineering manager or technical leader.
• Experience architecting, designing, and developing distributed systems.
• Experience leading product engineering teams at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers across product areas.
• Set technical vision, strategy, roadmap, and measurable goals.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, and Operations to define requirements.
• Design and scale backend services, distributed systems, and data platforms.
• Drive execution across launches and long‑term architectural investments.
• Ensure availability, scalability, privacy, security, and cost efficiency.
