Snap Inc. is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead a Product Engineering team tasked with delivering scalable, privacy-conscious experiences to hundreds of millions of Snapchatters.

You will shape vision, guide strategy, mentor engineers, and partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Operations, and other leaders to drive meaningful business impact. You will hire and develop top talent, set measurable goals, and ensure high availability and secure, performant systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• 10+ years of post Bachelor’s software development experience or equivalent.
• 5+ years as an engineering manager or technical leader.
• Experience architecting, designing, and developing distributed systems.
• Experience leading product engineering teams across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers to deliver high quality product experiences.
• Set the technical vision, roadmap, and measurable goals for the product engineering area.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science, Operations, and other Engineering teams to align on requirements.
• Design, build, and scale backend services, distributed systems, and data platforms.
• Drive execution across a portfolio from immediate launches to long-term architectural investments.
• Maintain high availability, performance, privacy, security, and cost discipline.
• Provide technical direction that benefits other teams and improves overall outcomes.
• Hire and develop engineering talent, fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture.
• Communicate priorities, risks, and decisions clearly with senior leadership.
