Job summary

Exelon Corporation in Chicago, IL is seeking an Engineering Designer to develop construction drawings and BOMs for utility infrastructure projects across generation, transmission, and distribution systems. The role involves field engineering support and coordination on New Business installations, removals, and relocations.

The candidate should have a technical degree with up to 7 years of experience, CAD proficiency, and the ability to analyze complex electrical/mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 0-3 years of technical experience, an associate's degree in a technical field and 2–5 years of relevant technical experience, or 5–7 years of technical experience or equivalent education if non-degreed or a non-technical or engineering degree.
• Successful completion of the TECH test (TEC H) is required unless a Bachelor’s in engineering exempts it.
• Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
• Proficient Computer Drawing and CAD skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for relatively complex systems and on a number of smaller projects or portions of a larger project for the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure.
• Interpret and apply engineering standards and memos.
• Assist with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes.
• Evaluate effectiveness of current design processes and participate on teams.
