Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Annapolis, MD is seeking a Principal Engineering Design professional to join our team. The role focuses on learning Model Based Definition in NX and using Teamcenter within Design Services.

The ideal candidate has strong CAD/PLM experience, top-secret eligibility, and the ability to contribute to complex mechanical designs for national security systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or MS with 3 years of relevant experience
• U.S. citizen with a Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval
• 3 years experience with 3D CAD modeling tools
• 3 years experience developing and releasing engineering models and drawings
• 3 years experience developing and releasing model-based engineering Digital Product Definition Packages
• Experience modeling components and assemblies in a PLM environment and creating drawings per ASME standards
• Familiarity with GD&T interpretation
• Strong communication skills across large diverse organizations

Responsibilities

• Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations
• Develops basic data and preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes to present design proposals
• Investigates design factors such as manufacturability, materials availability, interchangeability, strength-weight, and contractual specs
• Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development
• Makes layouts of complex assemblies and parts of devices, mechanisms, structures
• Identifies design errors and recommends revisions to responsible engineers or designers
