Job summary

Engineering - Chapter 74 Vocational Ed. Program

Grades 9-14 High School

Job Goal : To prepare students for careers and post-secondary education in the field of Engineering, and to instill the employability and professionalism skills needed to be successful in the workplace. This is an existing program, and the candidate will be expected to work with administration to ensure continued program success. This will include enhancing the Program Advisory Committee and ensuring curriculum/unit plans reflect the current and future MA CVTE Frameworks for Engineering.

The Team & Learning Environment : The Engineering Instructor will be working in a new, state‑of‑the‑art outfitted lab, to teach students the technical skills they need to be competitive in the workforce. The department is overseen by the Director of Career and Technical Education, who along with the Assistant Director, and current teacher work with an Advisory Committee made up of local area business leaders to ensure that our curriculum and equipment align with industry demand. New Teacher Support : Teachers who are new to the profession will be matched with a veteran teacher who will serve as a mentor and provide guidance on lesson planning, classroom management, assessments and grading, etc.

REPORTS TO: CTE Director

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the delivery of instruction in Engineering, in accordance with departmental curriculum objectives and the MA CVTE Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Establish and maintain a professional classroom/shop environment, with an emphasis on safety, strong work ethic, and mastery of skills.
  • Attend Program Advisory Committee meetings.
  • Establish and implement specific goals in accordance with district-wide, school-wide, and department requirements.
  • Support the CTE Director in recommending program improvement, equipment & supply purchases, and grant preparation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MA DESE Teacher’s approval (Chapter 74) in the Engineering Program, or ability to obtain the license.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught
  • Three years of full-time employment experience directly related to Engineering Technology
