Job summary

Colorado Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering/Physical Science Assistant II to support testing, design review, and documentation for transportation projects. This role involves field and office duties, including materials testing, data collection, and coordination with project teams.

You will gather field measurements, assist in design reviews, and prepare pay quantities while ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with 1 year of related experience.
• Substitution: relevant college coursework may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Must pass pre-employment screening and have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist with physical tests on materials to ensure conformance with plans and specs.
• Gather and document results of physical tests and materials certification for project records.
• Enter test results into ATSER and compile the Project Engineer's summary report.
• Maintain logs of field tests, observations, and data entries to support QA.
• Coordinate with traffic control personnel to ensure safety during inspections.
