Position Overview

Primary purpose: Support Kinder Morgan’s Pipeline Safety Program, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and provincial pipeline safety regulations in the United States and Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Review proposed federal and state/provincial pipeline safety legislation and regulations, providing feedback on compliance impacts.
  2. Review new regulations and existing standards and procedures for compliance.
  3. Recommend procedural changes through the MOC/ADC process to maintain regulatory compliance.
  4. Conduct annual review of Business Unit procedures.
  5. Coordinate and participate in pipeline safety audits by agencies such as DOT and CER.
  6. Prepare responses following agency audits.
  7. Assist in data collection and review for annual safety report filings.
  8. Participate in Emergency Release Line (ERL) team and emergency response activities.
  9. Contribute to root cause analyses and incident investigations.
  10. Ensure incident reporting aligns with PHMSA standards.
  11. Participate in regional accident review committees.
  12. Support data compilation and statistical analysis for industry reporting.
  13. Attend industry and pipeline safety seminars.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Location: Houston, TX (hybrid schedule).
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and be on call 24/7.
  • Up to 50% travel within US and Canada.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of US DOT and Canada Energy Regulator regulations.
  • Experience working with government agencies and pipeline safety standards.
  • Additional certifications or knowledge of Pipeline Safety Management Systems and industry standards (API, ASME, CSA, etc.).
