Description

BMT is recruiting for a Principal Pipeline Engineer to join our experienced team to enhance the capacity and capability of the team.

Duties

• Executing and directing technical projects
• Providing guidance and mentoring to junior staff
• Writing, reviewing, and contributing to project reports
• Managing and contributing to multiple projects simultaneously
• Being a technical leader for pipeline and/or pressure vessels and piping design and integrity assessment considering pressure, geotechnical, and thermal loading
• Having experience and familiarity with relevant Canadian and US pipeline and energy sector standards and codes of practice to lead project teams in code compliance review and assessments
• Supporting project and business management
• Identifying opportunities for technology and staff improvement
• Supporting recruitment of additional staff
• Reviewing, discussing, and referring business opportunities to appropriate business units within Infrastructure

Location & Flexibility

Based in Houston, TX. Hybrid role requiring in-office presence and travel to customer sites or meetings. Full-time position.

About You

We seek enthusiastic, flexible team members with the following skills and experience:

• Experience in the North American Energy Pipeline and/or Industrial Plant Service sector
• Over 15 years of related engineering experience
• Proven engineering skills and a valid Professional Engineering license
• Post-Graduate degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Civil Engineering (preferred)
• Deep knowledge of engineering in the energy sector
• Leadership and management experience
• Experience in consulting environments
• Proven ability in client relationships and business promotion
• Track record in energy sector engineering design/assessment tasks
• Expertise in design, fitness for service assessments, materials, welding, forensic investigation
• Recognition as a subject matter expert in the energy sector
• Experience with numerical modeling (finite element, CFD)

Preferred Experience / Qualifications

• Familiarity with standards like CSA Z662, API 579, API 1104, BS 7910, ASME BPVC, B31 series
• Client-facing skills and presentation abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced team
• Strong technical report and proposal writing skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience with numerical simulation and integrity management plans
• Knowledge of inline inspection tools, reporting, and risk assessment
