Job summary

Paycom is seeking an Engineering Intern to support the Engineering team. The intern will review submittals, calculate loads, and perform structural analysis under supervision, with exposure to BIM (Revit) and field visits.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and assisting in developing construction documents and design standards.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in an accredited engineering program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural/Structural emphasis.
  • Completion of structural analysis coursework and steel or concrete design is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with engineering materials and design standards.
  • Willingness to assist on job sites and in field data collection.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction submittals for structural elements.
  • Calculate structural loads (wind, seismic, gravity) per Building Codes.
  • Perform structural analysis and design for beams, columns, diaphragms, and lateral systems.
  • Attend jobsite visits and gather field information.
  • Work with BIM models using Revit as needed.
  • Support design standards and office tasks.

Other duties may be assigned.Review construction submittals for structural elements designed by DatumCalculate structural loads (e.g., Wind Load, Seismic, Gravity, etc.) based on Building Codes.Perform Structural Analysis and Design Calculations for beams, columns, diaphragms, lateral force resisting systems, and other holistic structural systems and components, for incorporation into Construction Documents.Attend jobsite visits.Assist with gathering information about buildings and construction in the field, either in existing facilities or facilities under construction.Work in building information models using Revit, depending on your abilities.Perform miscellaneous office tasks as needed, such as assistance with establishing and maintaining design standards.Additional responsibilities commensurate with your interests or abilities.Desired Education and/or ExperienceEnrolled in an accredited engineering program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Architectural/Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structural EmphasisSuccessful completion of college coursework in Structural Analysis and either steel design or concrete design.
