Job summary

Dennis Group in Austin, TX is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with 0–3 years of experience to contribute to the design of industrial facilities. You will perform calculations, draft contract drawings, and verify code compliance across structural systems.

The role requires knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit, RAM software, and a willingness to collaborate with multiple disciplines. Travel to project sites is expected about 15 days per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering required or equivalent.
• 0-3 years of relevant structural experience or schooling in industrial and commercial building structure.
• 0-3 years of experience or schooling performing calculations, creating analysis models for structural designs.
• 0-3 years of experience or schooling in structural and concrete drafting sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
• RAM Structural System and RAM Elements knowledge or experience is a plus.
• EIT / FE desirable.
• Detailed planning and organization skills.
• Experience with structural analysis software.
• Willingness to travel to project sites (approximately 15 days per year).

Responsibilities

• Apply extensive and diverse knowledge of principles and practices for a wide range of materials and construction techniques.
• Perform hand calculations and create computer analysis models for structural design tasks.
• Determine the correct building code.
• Locate any local or site-specific amendments to the building code.
• Document gravity design loads, wind design loads, and seismic design loads.
• Coordinate structural work with other disciplines.
• Review geotechnical reports.
• Design mat slabs for process tanks, vessels, and silos.
• Design pipe bridges.
• Perform take offs from structural plans.
• Contact potential bidders for preliminary budget estimates.
• Review submittals.
• Field measure existing structures to gather necessary information.
• Draft sketches, contract drawings, and specifications using AutoCAD.
• Review project documentation for conformity and quality assurance.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and calculations.
• Estimate construction costs with quantity take offs and historic costs.
• Conduct field inspections & condition assessments and prepare reports.
