Job Description

The Engineer III performs advanced maintenance, repairs, and support functions across general maintenance, plumbing, kitchen & refrigeration equipment, carpentry, HVAC, pumps, controls, and electrical devices. Ensures areas meet property standards with minimal supervision, supports higher management, and performs related tasks within the area of assignment.

Responsibilities

  1. Deliver superior guest service in Boyd Style, embodying our VIEW Core Values.
  2. Perform electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of lighting systems, transformers, ballasts, and electrical safety inspections.
  3. Complete plumbing repairs, installations, and maintenance, ensuring all systems are functioning properly.
  4. Inspect, repair, and install HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including compressors, condensers, chillers, and related components.
  5. Maintain and repair equipment, structures, furnishings, and fixtures, including general mechanical repairs and transportation/setup of items.
  6. Replace defective parts, maintain controls, and ensure proper operation of units and equipment.
  7. Perform general mechanical repairs, fabricate, and maintain HVAC and mechanical devices, and service kitchen and emergency equipment.
  8. Install, rebuild, or repair fans, motors, thermostats, filters, and other equipment as needed.
  9. Apply and prepare surfaces for painting, wallpapering, and wall covering installations.
  10. Perform rough and finished carpentry to repair or construct structures.
  11. Conduct preventive maintenance on all equipment, inspect refrigeration, heating, and ventilating units, and support hotel mechanical services.
  12. Complete general duties like door repairs, tile and floor maintenance, and painting.
  13. Maintain shop, spare parts, and inventory areas.
  14. Document work through logs and work order systems, participate in professional groups, and stay updated on industry trends.
  15. Perform related duties as required.
  16. Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED plus five years’ experience in environmental services, building maintenance, HVAC, or related trade.
  • Trade school graduation focusing on machinery, HVAC, or general maintenance is desirable.
  • Knowledge of building systems, plumbing codes, electrical systems, safety, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to read blueprints, operate tools and equipment safely, and perform skilled construction and repair work.
  • Must obtain and maintain relevant licenses/certifications per regulations.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

The role typically requires three years of related engineering experience in a hotel/casino with 200+ rooms and/or an AA Degree in a related field with five years’ experience. Supervisory experience is preferred.
