A Day in the Life

The Field Service Engineer is the primary technical representative for Medtronic Cardiovascular (CV) customers and the sales and clinical teams. The FSE is responsible for technical assessment, installation, support, servicing, maintenance, and de-installation of all CV systems at customer sites. The FSE works closely with the Field Service and Technical Service teams to coordinate feedback with Marketing, Quality, Production, and Engineering groups to evaluate product performance in the field. This position may also involve providing technical assistance to physicians or technologists during clinical procedures.

Additional Information

• Location: Must reside within 60 minutes of Nashville International Airport (BNA) to support this territory.
• Territory: Supporting TN and KY states.
• Travel: Over 50% travel, including overnight stays.
• Equipment: Working with Cardiac Ablation Solutions CryoConsole, Cardiac Surgery Auton platform, Hemostasis Management System, Automated Coagulation Timer, Bio-console 560 Controller, and future systems.

• Perform installations, inspections, verifications, and maintenance to ensure the proper operation of CV consoles and systems.
• Maintain and submit technical records as per regulatory standards.
• Share field experiences with colleagues and update databases.
• Contribute to service process improvements and develop service documentation.
• Provide input for product upgrades to Engineering and Manufacturing.
• Participate in technical training delivery for distributors, partners, and customer representatives.
• Assist in the introduction of new products through design discussions.
• Analyze technical data trends related to CV products.
• Participate in special projects as assigned by the US Field Service Manager.
• Deliver technical training to physicians, EP technicians, and department managers at customer sites.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, active vehicle insurance, and be able to drive 50-75% within the territory, with potential overnight travel.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• 4 years of technical, clinical field service, or customer support experience, or a Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, thermodynamic, and biomedical issues without complete documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and communication skills.
• Experience in teaching technical subjects.
• Excellent time management and detail orientation.
• Flexibility for frequent travel.
• Ability to work independently and build customer relationships.
