Job summary

RTX is seeking a mechanical/aerospace engineer to perform structural analyses and assess changes for impact on structural and system dynamics. The role involves generating high-fidelity load predictions, supporting engine tests, and helping root-cause vibration events.

The candidate should have a bachelor’s in mechanical or aerospace engineering (with 2 years of experience) or a master’s degree, and experience with FEA and vibrations. Some travel (10%) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Execute structural analyses with moderate direction from experienced engineers
  • Evaluate engineering changes for acceptable structural and system dynamic impacts
  • Analyze system-level vibratory responses for damaging modes of vibration
  • Generate high-fidelity solutions of mechanical loads through primary structural components
  • Support engine test with predictions
  • Assist in root cause investigation and disposition of abnormal vibration and loads events
  • Identify opportunities for automation and error-proofing in analysis processes
  • Collaborate with peers and RTX colleagues on tool improvements to reduce analysis time and mistake-proof existing methods

What You Will Do

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Master’s Degree with at least 1 year of work experience
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
  • Demonstrated experience with aerospace structural load or vibratory analysis and/or model calibration
  • Experience in system level engineering
  • 3-4 years of demonstrated experience with rotordynamics or Nastran modeling

This role is: Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines. Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility. As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
