Job summary

RTX seeks a Senior Engineer to produce CAD models and blueprints for assembly equipment, following ASME Y14.5 for quality drawings. You will apply mechanics and materials knowledge to structural analyses and may conduct FEM work using ANSYS Workbench.

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will mentor junior engineers and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM required.
  • 8 years of engineering experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years.
  • Experience with mechanical design and drafting in manufacturing or assembly environments.
  • Experience with GD&T and design for manufacturability.
  • Experience with CAD modeling and drafting software (NX/SolidWorks).
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance required.

What You Will Do
  • Produce technically sound computer aided design models and blueprints for equipment used in the assembly, disassembly, and inspection of Pratt & Whitney engine products.
  • Adhere to the Assembly Equipment Engineering standards and procedures, following ASME Y14.5 standards for the production of quality blueprints.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering mechanics, statics, and strength of materials to perform comprehensive structural analysis of assembly equipment designs.
  • Analysis may include both classical methods of hand calculations and/or creation of finite element models (FEM) for detailed finite element analysis (FEA) using Ansys Workbench.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during product development while effectively prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring clear communication in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mentor junior and new engineers in learning and developing accurate and correct modeling, drafting and analysis methods and techniques.
  • Travel is up to 10%.
Qualifications – You Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8 years of engineering experience or an Advanced Degree in with 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with mechanical design, drafting and engineering review within manufacturing, industrial or assembly equipment environments.
  • Experience reviewing designs for manufacturability, tolerance stack-ups, fit/function, and assembly sequencing.
  • Experience with CAD modeling and drafting software (NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Experience with a FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software and structural analysis methods.
  • U.S. Citizen - The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications – We Prefer
  • Experience with Aerospace hardware product definition (blueprints).
  • Background in aerospace, medical device, automotive or other high-precision industries.
  • Knowledge and experience to evaluate machining feasibility, welding and fastening methods, and material selections (metals, plastics, purchased items, etc.).
  • Familiarity with drawing release processes, revision control, and configuration management.
  • Experience with NX modeling software or equivalent.
  • Experience with ANSYS Workbench or equivalent software.
  • Experience with writing engineering reports.
  • Experience with Teamcenter.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
