Job summary

RTX, Pratt & Whitney unit, seeks an engineer to perform structural analyses for aircraft engines at our East Hartford site. You will run finite element analyses, evaluate changes for dynamic impact, and support engine tests with predictive loads, aiding root-cause investigations.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in structural dynamics and rotordynamics, with Nastran experience and travel up to 10%. This is an onsite role with comprehensive benefits and compensation aligned to market norms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 2+ years of work experience or a Master's degree.
  • Experience with structural engineering fundamentals, load calculations and vibrations.
  • Experience with finite element analysis and rotordynamics is preferred.

What You Will Do:
  • Execute structural analyses with moderate direction from experienced engineers
  • Evaluate engineering changes for acceptable structural and system dynamic impacts
  • Analyze system-level vibratory responses for damaging modes of vibration
  • Generate high-fidelity solutions of mechanical loads through primary structural components
  • Support engine test with predictions
  • Assist in root cause investigation and disposition of abnormal vibration and loads events
  • Identify opportunities for automation and error-proofing in analysis processes
  • Collaborate with peers and RTX colleagues on tool improvements to reduce analysis time and mistake-proof existing methods
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with 2 years of work experience OR a Master's degree
  • Experience with structural engineering fundamentals including load calculations and vibrations
  • Experience with finite element analysis
  • 10% Travel
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Master’s Degree with at least 1 year of work experience
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience
  • Demonstrated experience with aerospace structural load or vibratory analysis and/or model calibration
  • Experience in system level engineering
  • 3-4 years of demonstrated experience with rotordynamics or Nastran modeling

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
