Job summary

UNC in Chapel Hill, NC seeks an Engineer-2 to lead commissioning and energy management for campus capital building projects. You will develop commissioning scopes, select and oversee third-party agents, review plans, coordinate testing, and train end users.

The role supports building automation systems (EMCS) and energy conservation initiatives, with emphasis on meeting schedule and budget while collaborating with Facilities and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning scope development for capital projects
• Qualify and oversee third‑party commissioning agents and contracts
• Review plans, equipment submittals, and basis of design documents
• Coordinate functional testing and system training with project team and end users
• Develop energy conservation projects and perform cost estimates and savings calculations
• Support EMCS/building control technicians and operations
• Ensure projects meet budget and schedule constraints
