Job summary

AURO Hotels is seeking an Engineer I at our Greenville, SC property to monitor, maintain, and repair hotel HVAC and refrigeration equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance, read blueprints, and support various building systems to ensure guest comfort and safety.

The role requires basic troubleshooting, hands-on use of hand and power tools, and the ability to coordinate with team members while upholding OSHA chemical handling standards. Flexibility for varied hours is expected.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years: Basic understanding of HVAC and Refrigeration.
  • Prior hospitality experience preferred.
  • High School or better.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, repair and perform preventative maintenance on hotel HVAC/R equipment.
  • Supervise and inspect maintenance staff and assign tasks.
  • Coordinate or install and repair electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure safe handling and storage of chemicals in line with OSHA standards.
  • Operate and read blueprints, manufacturer instructions, and wiring diagrams.

Description
  • The purpose of the Engineer I is to monitor, maintain, repair and perform preventative maintenance on hotel heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, and perform general maintenance duties.
  • Supervises and assigns the work of maintenance employees, inspects work for completeness.
  • Determines material, equipment, and supplies to be used. Transfers equipment and personnel from one project to another as necessary.
  • Prepares work schedules as necessary.
  • Coordinates or installs, inspects, repairs and maintains the electrical, plumbing, mechanical and other related systems in all property locations.
  • Has knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems, including repair, maintenance and basic electric and plumbing skills. Ability to troubleshoot equipment and identify needs and parts.
  • Has mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment and has the knowledge and ability to perform a variety of general maintenance repairs.
  • Has working knowledge regarding application and storage of all applicable chemicals and the OSHA standards for chemical use.
  • Operate hand and power tools (drills, hoisting equipment, reciprocating saw, and pressure washing equipment); dial indicators and testing equipment for air, water balancing and control calibration.
  • Read manufacturer instructions, blueprints, etc. and the ability to discern various colors of electrical wiring.

  • Complies with Company Standards of Service as outlined for AURO Hotels.
  • Projects a favorable image of AURO Hotels to the public at all times.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies and procedures to achieve the overall objectives of this position.
  • Treats guests, vendors, customers and co-workers with professionalism and respect at all times.
  • Completes Departmental, AURO Hotels and Brand standards training as assigned.
  • Maintains a clean and neat appearance at all times.
  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
