Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Civil Engineer with diving and inspection expertise to support inspection and design of marine structures and bridges in the Baltimore area. You will conduct site investigations, prepare reports, analyze deterioration, and develop cost estimates.

The role requires an Engineer in Training (EIT), a Certified Commercial Diver, and readiness to travel locally. Strong technical writing and collaboration across disciplines are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) is required.
• Certified Commercial Diver is required; ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS or US military equivalent diving school preferred
• Possession of or eligibility to obtain TWIC is required
• DBIDS card or eligibility to obtain and pass background checks preferred
• Availability and willingness to travel as required
• Most work is local/regional with regular returns home
• Post-offer/pre-employment drug screening and background checks required

Job description

• • Ensures that the scope of work is fulfilled as directed and that the contracted deliverable is submitted out on schedule and as budgeted


• • Data entry/manipulation and technical writing skills for the preparation and review of inspection reports, proposals, etc.


• • Analyzes deteriorated components of marine and bridge structures to assess load capacity


• • Prepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentation


• • Works collaboratively with all members of the inspection team and of other engineering disciplines


• • Assists with civil and structural design


• • Performs other duties as required

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.


• Structural coursework or focus is preferred


• Engineer in Training (EIT) required


• Certified Commercial Diver is required; ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS or completion of a US military equivalent diving school required


• Entry level to 4+ years of related diving and inspection experience required


• Valid driver’s license in good standing


• Boater Safety Card preferred


• Availability and willingness to travel as required.


• Most work is local/regional and employee is able to return home most evenings.


• When travel outside of the Baltimore area is required, it is typically less than 2 weeks in duration


• Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)


• Possess DBIDS card or eligibility to successfully pass background check to secure Department of Defense DBIDS card and other badges required by clients preferred


• Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferred


• Selected candidate must consent to and pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening


• All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
