Job summary

KCI Technologies, Inc. in Maryland is seeking a Sr. Engineering Designer – Diver to join our team. The role focuses on underwater inspections, structural design and analysis of marine structures, and producing detailed reports through all project stages.

Qualified candidates have a ABET‑accredited engineering degree, 4+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency with MicroStation, AutoCAD or Revit. ADCI certification and travel up to 35% are preferred requirements.

Position

KCI is hiring a Sr. Engineering Designer – Diver to join our team in Maryland.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct underwater inspections of various structures, including bridges, barges, piers, wharves, marinas, ports, bulkheads, and seawalls.
• Perform condition inspections and quality control inspections for construction projects.
• Engage in structural design and analysis of marine structures.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and oversee the plan development process from concept through final construction plans for new structures, rehabilitations, and repairs.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of all facets of commercial diving and ADCI requirements for surface-supplied air diving.
• Proficiency in structural engineering, design, analysis, and bridge condition inspection is highly desirable.
• Experience with bridge, waterfront, and/or dam projects is preferred.

Additional Qualifications

• Proven project management experience with a track record of successful project delivery.
• Certification by the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI) is required.
• National Highway Institute (NHI) Bridge Inspection certification is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Travel up to 35% of the time is a requirement of this position.
• TWIC card is preferred.
• Boating Safety Certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program.
• Strong proficiency in required design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or Revit.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good communication and technical writing skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to think critically.
