Job summary

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection invites applications for an Engineer Associate in the Office of Abandoned Mine Lands and Reclamation, Fairmont, WV. The role supports design in AML&R projects, collaborating with the Division of Land Restoration to deliver timbered reclamation objectives.

Responsibilities include evaluating geological data, developing design objectives, and coordinating field surveys.

Qualifications

Current Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the West Virginia State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
ABET-accredited Bachelor of Engineering degrees in Civil, Mining or Environmental preferred.
Experience with design projects in AMLR or reclamation is a plus.

Responsibilities

Monitor design plans and specifications for feasibility, economics, and conformance to standards.
Ensure technical correctness and quality control of designs.
Perform site investigations to evaluate geo-technical conditions.
Develop design objectives and determine scope of work for reclamation measures.
Coordinate field and office meetings and contractor procedures.
Provide technical guidance on design methods and contract operating procedures.
Coordinate drilling, mapping, surveying, and water monitoring activities.
Perform engineering computations for reclamation designs and analyze hydrologic and geotechnical data.
Maintain detailed reports and records of design changes and costs for quality control.
