Job summary
The State of West Virginia invites applications for an exempt professional engineer position in the Office of Abandoned Mine Lands and Reclamation (AML&R) Design Section in the Fairmont Regional Office. You will learn to perform a broad range of engineering services and help select qualified firms to design AML&R projects and meet construction schedules.
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering, has or will obtain FE certification, and may hold Engineer Intern status.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- FE exam completion or in progress.
- Engineer Intern certification in good standing preferred.
- ABET-accredited degree preferred for Civil/Mining/Environmental.
Responsibilities
- Monitor contractor design development for feasibility, economics, and compliance.
- Review design correctness and quality control.
- Conduct site investigations to evaluate geotechnical conditions.
- Define project scope and design objectives.
- Coordinate drilling, mapping, surveying, and water monitoring.
- Maintain detailed workflow reports and design-change records.
