Job summary

Apex Systems in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, seeks an Engineer Aeronautical 2 to apply thermo-structural analysis to aerospace components. You will develop FEM models, run simulations, and support design across product lines under supervision. Requires security clearance and readiness to obtain it before project start.

Responsibilities include reporting results, advising IPTs, and organizing engineering data and documents. Onsite work with a focus on reliability and technical communication.

Role Overview

This position will apply engineering principles, industry standards, and customer requirements to develop and perform thermo-structural analysis simulations. The role supports design activities across all product lines, under general supervision. Responsibilities include the development of thermo-structural models, gridding, selection of boundary conditions, and coordinating strategies for multi-disciplinary design and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop analytical approaches to assist in the resolution of unique structural and thermo-structural mechanics issues.
• Provide recommendations to the Integrated Product Team (IPT) working group as a structural mechanics and material specialist.
• Develop methodologies, interpret analytical results, and recommend design improvements.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for both internal and external customers.
• Provide technical assessments of test hardware and test data.
• Develop material models for thermal or structural analyses and assist in developing material test plans.
• Provide analytical services to support failure investigations, including developing fault trees and assessing fault causes.
• Assist the project team in designing experiments to provide necessary data for detailed analyses.
• Organize, preserve, and manage engineering data, design documentation, and models.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills: ANSYS Finite Element Analysis; Ansys mechanical; Structural Analysis; Thermal Analysis; Applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project).

• Must be willing and able to obtain a DOD Secret clearance and SAP access prior to supporting the project

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DOD Secret Clearance
• Experience with thermal/structural analytical simulation of air-breathing engines is desirable; experience with rocket motors is a plus.
• ANSYS mechanical experience is desirable.
• Applicable experience performing thermal/structural analysis on metals and composite materials.
• Knowledge of nonlinear material properties and their implementation using FEA.
• Experience with high and low cycle fatigue as well as damage tolerance using NASGRO or an equivalent.
• Personal poise and a demonstrated ability to prepare and present analytical results in both oral and written formats.
• Critical thinking skills, logical approaches, and attention to detail.
• ANSYS ADPL.
