Everforth Apex Systems in El Segundo, CA is hiring an Engineer Tool 2 to design tooling and supporting equipment for aerospace programs. You will develop concepts, produce drawings, and validate layouts while coordinating with manufacturing and engineering teams.

You will review designs for manufacturability, assess safety risks, and ensure compliance with quality and cost targets. This role requires a STEM degree and strong CAD skills in NX CATIA GD&T.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM required.
  • Experience with NX CAD and CATIA.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018).
  • Knowledge of drawing weld symbols.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

Role Overview

An opportunity is available for an Engineer Tool 2 to support a tooling department. This role involves working in a dynamic environment with diverse assignments and collaboration with internal and external customers. The position requires designing industrial tools and equipment for various production uses while ensuring that all tooling meets quality, cost, schedule, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for new and existing programs.
  • Design tooling and equipment, including engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans.
  • Review designs for manufacturability, fit, form, and function.
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company and government standards.
  • Create layouts of complex assemblies and detailed parts of structures.
  • Develop basic data and make preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
  • Interface with internal customers and design review teams to ensure requirements are met.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, operations, and process engineering to support program objectives.
  • Manage tooling projects, including cost, schedule, procurement, and fabrication.
  • Check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, and conformity to standards.
  • Identify design errors and recommend revisions or improvements.
  • Support vendors during fabrication and inspect tooling for drawing compliance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and investigations related to root cause analysis.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline is required.

Skills
  • Experience with industry standard design tools including NX CAD and CATIA.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, fabrication processes, and machine shop practices.
  • Experience with drawing release criteria for completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Knowledge and application of GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2018).
  • Knowledge and application of drawing weld symbols.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organizational skills in managing time, projects, and resources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DOD secret Clearance
  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in engineering, design, and fabrication of special tooling and support equipment.
  • Experience in design and fabrication of tooling used in the manufacture of composite parts.
  • Ability to evaluate vendor capabilities for tooling and aerospace part production.
  • Experience with a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
  • Project management skills.
  • Experience with stress analysis via hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRAN.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineering License.
