Job summary

Blessey Marine Services, Inc. in Liberty, TX is seeking a Shop Helper to learn and assist in engine repair under the supervision of the Shop Supervisor. You will support maintenance tasks, document all work, and contribute to keeping the facility clean and compliant with procedures.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, and a mechanical mindset; a TWIC card is required or obtainable. Join our shipyard and barge support environment and grow with the team.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak clearly in English.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word software.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid TWIC card.
• Strong mechanical background.
• Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are critical as are leadership skills.
• Must maintain a clear driving record and be insurable through the company’s automobile insurance carrier.
• Three to five years related experience and/or certified engine mechanic training.
• Experience working in barge maintenance and/or around shipyard repair activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist and perform required maintenance under the guidance of Shop Supervisor and/or Engineers.
• Follow procedures including documenting all work performed.
• Assist with maintaining the facility by following proper procedures, housecleaning, and performing general maintenance duties.
