Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. seeks a skilled maintenance technician to repair and overhaul heavy equipment, engines and marine machinery in a shipyard setting.

You will diagnose issues, perform hydraulic and mechanical repairs, and keep meticulous maintenance records. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of heavy equipment repair experience, plus familiarity with blueprints, schematics, and tape measures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 3+ years heavy equipment repair experience.
• OSHA knowledge desired and shipyard experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Must be safety-conscious and able to work in a heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair on gasoline, diesel, and marine engines and related equipment.
• Inspect and maintain machinery; diagnose malfunctions and determine needed repairs.
• Repair and maintain hydraulic equipment and valves.
• Maintain accurate records on inspections and repairs/maintenance.
• Work with minimal supervision and perform additional duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED

3+ years heavy equipment repair experience

Read blueprints and schematics

Able to read a tape measure

Safety-conscious and shop safety awareness
