Job summary

Amentum’s Dearborn Engine Laboratory performs dynamometer-based testing on gasoline and diesel engines, including development, durability, and emissions testing. The Test Engineer collaborates with requesting activities to document requirements and ensure engine setup quality.

The role emphasizes project leadership, data analysis, and developing test methodologies to meet emissions and fuel economy goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 1+ years of powertrain calibration/development and testing.
• Experience with internal combustion engines and basic heat transfer properties.
• Fundamental programming skills (MATLAB, LabVIEW) desired.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-functional teams in the design, deployment and start-up for engine test facilities.
• Deliver quality, timing and financial objectives of a project.
• Manage complex installations requiring detailed design work.
• Provide test engineering support and act as single point of contact for test room operations.
• Troubleshoot site maintenance and identify operational efficiency opportunities.
• Support powertrain development with data analysis and test validation.
