Job summary

YMCA of Central Maryland, Inc. is seeking a Swim Instructor 1 to lead swim lessons following the YMCA curriculum, ensuring participant safety and creating an engaging, supportive environment for all swimmers.

Responsibilities include assessing swimmer abilities, preparing lesson areas, maintaining attendance, and promoting YMCA swim programs while upholding the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Qualifications

• Prior swim instruction experience preferred.
• Current CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications (O2 within 30 days).
• Lifeguard certification preferred.
• Successful completion of the YMCA in Central Maryland swim test.
• Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
• Completion of required new hire training, including Child Abuse Prevention, before start date.

Responsibilities

• Teach swim lessons based on YMCA curriculum and adapt instruction to meet needs.
• Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and supervising during lessons.

Education

CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration

Lifeguard certification
