Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is hiring a Swim Instructor I to teach lessons, ensure safety, and foster a welcoming environment for all swimmers. You will follow YMCA guidelines and assess progression while promoting inclusive programs.

Qualifications

• Prior swim instruction experience required.
• Current CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certifications.
• Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Teach swim lessons per YMCA curriculum and adapt to students.
• Ensure safety by enforcing pool rules and supervising during lessons.
• Assess swimmer abilities and progress through levels.
• Prepare lesson areas and store equipment after use.
• Maintain attendance; arrange substitutes and provide plans if absent.
• Engage participants and encourage skill development in a supportive setting.
• Promote YMCA swim programs to families and participants.
