Job summary

The YMCA is seeking a Swim Instructor to deliver engaging swimming lessons in a safe, supportive environment for participants of all ages. You will motivate learners and communicate progress to families while upholding the YMCA core values.

Responsibilities include conducting classes per program guidelines, collaborating with staff, and completing in-service trainings. Weekend shifts are required.

Qualifications

• Must take and pass an advanced swimming test.
• Must have a current state-approved First-Aid certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
• Ability to communicate YMCA programs to members and participants.
• Applicants aged 15 must have lifeguard certification.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, nurturing and genuine environment for all members and guests.
• Conduct swim classes in alignment with YMCA program guidelines and maximize swimmer participation.
• Communicate student progress to participants and/or their parents.
• Work as part of a team and support fellow staff.
• Be available for weekend shifts and complete required trainings.
• Uphold YMCA core values in interactions within the facility and community.
