Job summary

PACS is seeking an Activity Assistant to support the Activity Director in creating a creative, interactive activities program for residents in a long-term care setting. You will help plan monthly calendars, coordinate outings, and assist with assessments to meet residents' physical, mental, and psychosocial needs.

You will also help maintain attendance records, communicate with staff and families, and ensure supplies and documentation are up to date in a compliant, respectful environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferable one-year experience in a long term care facility.
• Ability to read technical procedures.
• Ability to read and comprehend policy and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Standing and /or walking very frequently.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and conducting individual, small and large group activities.
• Assist in development of monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records.
• Assist in arranging transportation for residents when necessary.
• Encourage residents to participate in self-initiated activities including hobbies, crafts, and reading.
• Keep Activity Department clean, orderly and secured.
