Job summary

The City of New York seeks an Engagement and Operations Coordinator to support the rollout of Commercial Waste Zones (CWZ) for NYCs Bureau of Commercial Waste. You will engage thousands of businesses, provide technical guidance, and track program data.

Responsibilities include outreach, on-site support, and coordinating communications to ensure consistent messaging and effective policy implementation. Evening/weekend work may be needed, with strong emphasis on collaboration with DSNY leadership.

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational, analytical, and writing skills.
• Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheet, and database applications, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with ArcGIS mapping software and Adobe tools for communications materials.
• Knowledge of NYC commercial waste management, laws, and related issues.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach to NYC businesses to support CWZ implementation.
• Provide technical assistance and interpretation of program requirements to businesses and stakeholders.
• Support engagement strategies with outreach activities, stakeholder engagement, and field-based support.
• Draft and distribute communications about CWZ and related initiatives to businesses.
• Track engagement activities and data in Salesforce and other systems, meeting SLAs.
