Job summary

The New York City Department of Sanitation is recruiting an Engagement and Operations Coordinator to help implement Commercial Waste Zones across New York City. You will engage thousands of businesses, interpret program requirements, and track field activities to support policy rollout and continuous improvement.

This hybrid and on-site role requires strong communication, analytical abilities, and the ability to work with diverse audiences while coordinating with Bureau leadership and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with two years of related community engagement experience.
• High school diploma with six years of related experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience with at least one year of qualifying experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach and distribute educational materials to NYC businesses for CWZ implementation.
• Provide technical assistance and interpretation of program requirements to businesses and stakeholders.
• Support engagement strategies with outreach activities, stakeholder engagement, and field-based support.
• Draft, coordinate, and distribute communications about CWZ and related initiatives to businesses.
• Log engagement activities in Department systems (e.g., Salesforce) and meet SLAs for documentation and follow-up.
• Provide support for other Bureau functions and special projects, including possible evenings or weekends.
