Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an Enforcement Sergeant to supervise weight enforcement operations, provide field guidance to officers, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations at a fixed‑scale facility in Delta, LA. This role involves managing personnel, investigations, scheduling, and daily operations to support Louisiana’s highway safety.

Qualifications

• Four years of law enforcement experience in the protection of transportation infrastructure; OR five years with POST certification.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Possession of an active POST certification.
• An applicant with a misdemeanor domestic violence or felony conviction, or who is under felony indictment, will be disqualified.

Responsibilities

• Supervise weight enforcement operations by providing field guidance to officers and inspectors, assigning duties, monitoring activities.
• Oversee daily operations, prepare work schedules, train staff, maintain records, and communicate directives.
• Conduct and oversee investigations and enforcement activities including major events, seizures, and regulatory investigations.
• Manage reports, timekeeping, equipment, and facility needs; assist with emergency or disaster response.
