Job summary

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is seeking an Enforcement Sergeant to supervise the Weight Enforcement Unit at the Breaux Bridge fixed-scale facility. Qualifications

• Four years of law enforcement experience in the protection of transportation infrastructure.
• Five years of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer commissioned with the power of arrest.

Responsibilities

• Supervise weight enforcement operations by providing field guidance to police officers and compliance inspectors, assigning duties, monitoring enforcement activities, and ensuring state and federal regulations are enforced consistently.
• Manage personnel and daily operations by training and briefing subordinate staff, preparing bi-weekly schedules, communicating directives and policy updates, maintaining records, and keeping the Police Lieutenant informed of significant operational matters.
• Conduct and oversee investigations and enforcement activities including major events, evidence handling, seizures, and investigations while ensuring cases are properly completed and documented.
• Oversee administrative, equipment, and facility responsibilities by completing required reports and performance evaluations, maintaining equipment and inventories, coordinating supplies and facility needs, processing applicable bills, and supporting emergency or disaster operations as needed.
