Job summary

WSP USA seeks a Transmission Siting and Permitting Project Manager for our Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Maryland offices to support a growing portfolio of electric transmission, substation, and renewable energy projects within the Earth & Environment Team.

This role blends hands-on routing and permitting work with project management, team leadership, and client coordination, offering mentorship and strategic guidance while staying technically engaged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, biology, natural sciences or ecology, environmental planning, environmental science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects for energy-related infrastructure.
• Ability to lead project teams and work independently with client interaction.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills with clients, agencies, and colleagues.
• Experience preparing proposals, presentations, and project pricing structures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with ability to define and manage client requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a siting and environmental permitting SME for electric transmission, substations, and renewable energy projects.
• Manage routing and siting studies, analyses, and technical reports.
• Provide oversight for environmental permitting and planning across project phases.
• Develop strategies for public involvement programs, including open houses and hearings.
• Maintain familiarity with regulatory frameworks and coordinate with state agencies.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff.
• Support business development, proposals, and pricing activities.
• Ensure adherence to quality, budgets, schedules, and company policies.
