Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Electrical Engineer to support project teams in creating world-class electrical designs for diverse facilities, including power, healthcare, airports, and industrial projects. You will assist through design and construction, adapting plans to budgets and client needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
• Basic knowledge in standard electrical engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
• Basic computer skills include electrical analysis programs (e.g., RISA), AutoCAD, BIM (e.g., Revit and Tekla).
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Engineers in Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in electrical design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for a variety of projects (power plants, process facilities, healthcare, airports, etc.).
• Assist in designing electrical components per project managers' requirements.
• Apply basic knowledge of electrical concepts, codes, and procedures.
• Assist with researching and compiling project-related data.
• Assist in correcting and updating drawings in CAD software.
• Assist with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
• Assist in field inspections, measurements or calculations for clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with policies and standards.
