Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Energy Storage to lead innovative projects from conception through startup. The role blends engineering rigor with business development and project management to deliver turnkey energy storage solutions for utility-scale and industrial clients across multiple market sectors.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, PE preferred, and strong skills in design, cost estimation, and team leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience in energy storage design and consulting across utility-scale and large industrial facilities.
• Excellent written & verbal communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to travel and manage multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate energy storage technology and guide clients on best options for the application.
• Perform marketing, project development, and proposal development for energy storage projects.
• Regularly meet and coordinate with clients and outside personnel.
• Develop scope of work, conceptual design, and execution plans.
• Prepare engineering cost estimates and manpower schedules.
• Perform project management duties on energy storage consulting projects.
• Lead engineering duties on multi-discipline energy storage construction projects.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
• Prepare construction documents for installation of energy storage electrical systems.
• Develop equipment specifications, procurement, and factory acceptance testing of batteries, inverters, and related equipment.
• Coordinate design teams locally and with other offices.
• Provide field engineering support during construction and commissioning.
• Travel approximately 20–25% to client offices and project sites.
