Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Morristown, NJ seeks an Assistant Electrical Engineer to support project teams across power, process, healthcare, and industrial facilities. You will assist from conceptual design through construction, adapting plans to budget and client needs.

The role emphasizes CAD/BIM use (AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla), strong communication, and teamwork. A Bachelor's in electrical engineering is required, with ABET preferred and EIT encouraged.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Legally authorized to work in the country of location.
• Basic knowledge in standard electrical engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Basic CAD skills include AutoCAD and BIM tools (Revit, Tekla).
• Demonstrated leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in electrical design from conceptual phase through design completion.
• Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for various facilities.
• Assist in designing electrical components per project requirements.
• Apply basic knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
• Assist with research and data required by project managers.
• Assist with correcting and updating drawings in CAD software.
• Assist with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration.
• Assist in performing field inspections, measurements or calculations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
