Job summary

Join the Resource Planning team at Xcel Energy for an internship focused on studying Colorado's electric system and new generation technologies. You will help develop an electric resource plan prioritizing safe, clean, reliable, affordable energy for customers while gaining exposure to many departments and stakeholders.

You’ll learn how resources are modeled, study location and diversity benefits, and understand how changes affect planning.

Qualifications

• Current student, Junior or higher.
• Enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Operations Research, Mathematics, or Business.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week) / part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commute to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Responsibilities

• Supporting regulatory filings.
• Supporting energy systems modeling.
• Development of resource plans and large scale power plant (generation) RFPs.
• Other ad hoc projects and assignments.
