Job summary

Primoris Energy Services is seeking a Cost Engineer to develop and maintain cost control systems, forecast project costs, and ensure projects stay within budget for Hubbard, Texas-based client projects.

This role requires 3+ years in cost engineering or project controls in energy sectors, proficiency with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/EcoSys) and advanced Excel, plus strong analytical and communication skills. On-site work in Hubbard is expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of cost engineering, cost control, or project controls in energy sectors (oil & gas or heavy industry).
Experience with cost control software and ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/EcoSys).
Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and derive actionable insights.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite.
Understanding of project lifecycle, contracting strategies, and project finance principles.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
PMP or AACE CCP/CCC certifications are a plus.
Willingness to work on-site in Hubbard, Texas.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems and procedures for various energy service projects.
Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for all project phases, from initiation to completion.
Monitor project expenditures against budget, identify variances, and provide detailed variance analysis reports.
Track and manage project change orders, ensuring proper cost impacts are assessed and incorporated into the budget.
Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and other stakeholders to gather cost-related information and ensure accurate cost tracking.
Develop and maintain progress measurement systems to track earned value and forecast final project costs.
Prepare regular cost reports, cash flow projections, and other financial analyses for internal and external stakeholders.
Identify potential cost risks and opportunities, and develop mitigation strategies or capitalize on cost-saving initiatives.
Review contractor invoices and progress payments to ensure accuracy and adherence to contract terms.
Assist in the development of project schedules and resource-loaded schedules to support cost control efforts.
