Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC in Austin, TX is expanding its Business Development team to serve large load customers, including data centers, with gas-fired generation and renewables. The role focuses on origination, commercial structures, and partnerships to grow a diversified energy portfolio.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in the U.S. electric power sector, a Bachelor's degree, and strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline including business administration, economics, engineering, etc.
• A minimum 5 years experience in the U.S. electric power sector or related field.
• Experience working with at least one of a leading U.S. utility or IPP, hyperscaler/co-lo/neocloud or data center developer.
• Demonstrated achievements in leveraging relationships and industry networks to create new business opportunities.
• Deep knowledge of the U.S. power sector or data center developer market or both.
• Commercial negotiations experience preferred.
• Professional experience at the intersection of the electric power sector and data center demand preferred.
• Relationship building: highly skilled at creating and cultivating professional relationships to create unique insights and unlock new opportunities.
• Communications: clear, structured, and highly polished written communications for complex commercial arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Create and build relationships across the energy and data center ecosystem to support RWE FlexGen business development objectives.
• Manage commercial progress of FlexGen Energy Campus opportunities from conception to term sheet and detailed negotiations with hyperscalers and data center customers.
• Research and gather market intelligence from public sources and direct relationships to inform development activities.
• Maintain relationships with utilities, coops, munis and other load serving entities for early insights on dispatchable needs and upcoming RFPs.
• Increase visibility of RWE FlexGen and energy campus capabilities through outreach, conferences, presentations and networking.
• Partner with internal stakeholders within FlexGen and across RWE to shape energy campus opportunities to meet customer needs and partner requirements.
