Job summary

Francis Parker School in San Diego, California is seeking a dedicated JK-5 Daily Substitute to provide instruction and manage classrooms when the regular teacher is absent. The role covers homeroom and special classes and runs Monday to Friday from 7:45 am to 4:15 pm.

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible one-year assignment with the possibility to reapply year after year. The ideal candidate will hold a teaching credential, have at least 3 years of primary school teaching experience, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; current teaching credential required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years teaching experience with focus on reading, writing, math, and science.
• Knowledge of instructional methods appropriate for the grade level.
• Ability to manage classrooms and handle multiple duties during teacher absences.

Responsibilities

• Teach lesson plans and instructions as directed by the absent teacher.
• Maintain a respectful, orderly classroom and follow procedures.
• Maintain discipline and a safe learning environment in line with school policies.
• Contribute to student learning and progress of the curriculum.
• Leave notes for the regular teacher at the end of the day.
• Communicate with parents, students, and administrators; keep attendance records.
