Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Akron General is seeking an RN Specialist in Endoscopy to manage nursing care in the Endoscopy unit and to cross-train across operative areas including the OR, Radiology, Pre‑op, Recovery, and decontamination of equipment.

The role requires Ohio RN licensure, BLS and ACLS with 6 months of hire, and at least two years of nursing experience; Endoscopy experience is preferred. Strong teamwork and patient safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN or BSN)
• Current Ohio RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS (with 6 months of hire)
• Two years of nursing experience

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for the endoscopy procedure.
• Assess patient status pre-op including vital signs and admissions.
• Report pre-op findings to physician as needed.
• Ensure proper consents and charting are complete.
• Support physician during endoscopic procedures.
• Document and label specimens; communicate with anesthesia/physician.
• Ensure patient stability and safe discharge.
• Complete post-operative documentation.
• Seek help to improve Endoscopy unit skills.
• Identify unsafe practices and participate in solutions.
• Maintain privacy and confidentiality.
• Follow unit policies and attendance rules.
• Complete mandatory education for competencies.
