Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current state nursing licensure to practice in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or BCLS within 90 days of employment.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required when pediatric care is included.
• GI/OR/medical-surgical nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care.
• Protect patient from injury due to extraneous objects or harmful sources.
• Demonstrate safe operation of equipment and report unsafe conditions.
• Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout care.
• Handle specimens per facility policy and procedures.
• Adhere to universal precautions and PPE usage.
• Comply with Universal Protocol and time-out policies.
• Communicate patient status to care team during perioperative period.
• Administer medications using the 8 rights of medication administration.

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

Current state nursing licensure

BLS/BCLS within 90 days

ACLS within 90 days

PALS within 90 days

GI/OR/medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
