Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY is seeking an Endoscopy Procedural Scheduler to coordinate all endoscopy and related procedures. You will collect clinical, equipment and insurance coding information and schedule procedures in line with established guidelines.
The role requires an associate’s degree with 2 years of experience in Endoscopy or healthcare, strong computer skills including EPIC, Excel, Word and Windows, and excellent organizational and communication abilities.
The Endoscopy Procedural Scheduler schedules all endoscopy and procedural procedures and assures that all of the appropriate clinical, equipment and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery schedule. Scheduler receives requests to schedule procedures from physician offices and schedules the procedure according to established guidelines and policies. Scheduler provides accurate information so that all departments may view daily, and maintains open communication with hospital departments and physician offices regarding schedule changes.
Associate's degree and 2 years of relevant endoscopy clinic or healthcare experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Strong computer skills required. Familiarity with Excel, Word, Windows and EPIC required. Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented. Must be highly skilled in verbal communication, problem solving, prioritization and organization.
Previous scheduling experience in a health care environment is preferred. (e.g., physician office, clinic or hospital). Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures, and health care billing and authorization is preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA/Confidentiality preferred.
