Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services in Thornton, CO, seeks a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.

You will determine donor eligibility, review lab results, manage donor adverse events, and notify donors of unsuitable results. You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, ensuring adherence to FDA requirements and participating in EHS initiatives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent including nursing program graduate.
• Licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, and medical history review; perform physical examination and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions and manage emergencies per SOPs; arrange donor transport when needed.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical issues or donor safety.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
• Manage employee incidents and follow EHS guidance; potential Pandemic Coordinator role when authorized.
