Job summary

Northwest Healthcare is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician I (EMT I) to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation under supervision within the EMS department.

You will maintain equipment, document patient information in the EMR, promote safety, and communicate effectively with paramedics, nurses, and receiving facility to ensure smooth patient transfer. A state-approved EMT program is required, with preferred Advanced EMT training.

Qualifications

• Completion of a state-approved EMT training program.
• Advanced EMT course preferred.
• Experience in hospital ED, ambulance, or critical care transport preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic emergency medical care in accordance with scope of practice and policies.
• Assists with patient assessment, vital signs, and delivery of care under supervision.
• Administers CPR and first aid; controls bleeding and immobilizes injuries.
• Operates emergency vehicles safely and in compliance with policies and laws.
• Conducts vehicle and equipment checks at the start of each shift.
• Maintains and restocks supplies and equipment for patient care.
• Documents patient information accurately in the EMR.
• Escalates concerns through proper chain of command.
• Collaborates with paramedics, nurses and physicians for patient transfer.
