Job summary

Mercy Hospital St. Louis EMS supports direct patient care, including assessment and basic life support, following Mercy Health System standards and the Employee Code of Conduct. An EMT license for the state of employment and a valid driver's license are required.

The role may include clerical, dispatch, and maintenance duties. Candidates must meet fitness for duty and complete Hazmat Awareness, BLS, and NIMS within 90 days of hire; ITLS or equivalent training is preferred. Shifts may vary.

Qualifications

• EMT licensure for the state where employed.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 19 years old to operate Mercy EMS vehicles.
• Hazmat Awareness, BLS for Healthcare Providers, NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800 within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred ITLS or equivalent training.
• May be required to work differing shifts and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including assessment, evaluation, and basic life support.
• Perform duties such as clerical, dispatch, and equipment maintenance as required.
• Must be able to respond quickly in ambulance and transport patients.
• Meet physical demands including lifting and moving equipment and patients; fitness for duty testing will be conducted.
